CORE TOPIC:
Accessory Glands

The major accessory glands are the seminal vesicles (1), prostate (2) and the bulbo-urethral glands ( Cowper's glands) (3).

Together these glands secrete fluids which provide physical and nutrient support for spermatozoa which are ejaculated at orgasm. The glands each produce a charactaristic secretion which is dependant on testosterone production.

The bulbo-urethral glands are relatively simple mucus secreting glands which, together with the paraurethral glands of the penis, lubricate the penile urethra and are not considered in more detail in this tutorial.
